NCR SelfServ Checkout - NCR SS90, a compact register for special tasks
NCR SelfServ 90 is a compact self-checkout register model. It can be placed on a store counter, mounted on a wall, or set on a special base allowing the self-checkout register to be placed in the checkout area of a retail outlet. The NCR SS90 is a simplified version of the standard self-checkout register model. We installed the fiscal printer inside the device, with the pinpad mounted directly on the front - a compact solution where everything is within reach.
Payment by card or vouchers
The register accepts payment only by payment cards and vouchers; this model does not handle cash. The register allows the purchase of items marked with barcodes as well as items sold by piece found on the quick-selection list (e.g. bread or fruit sold by piece).
Due to its compact design, the register does not have a built-in scale for weighing items sold by weight (e.g. vegetables). It is intended for fast purchases of a few or a dozen or so products, where the customer completes the purchase process on the self-checkout register themselves. These stations work great, for example, in shops at metro stations or railway stations, where a customer buying, say, a ready-made sandwich and a drink does not have to stand in line for a cashier, but simply scans the item and pays for their purchases themselves.
The compact NCR SS90 registers also work very well in convenience-type stores.
